Ministry of Dentistry

Dr. Steve and Ruth Porter will be with us on Sunday morning, November 10, at Open Door, speaking in the Bible Study Hour (9:30AM) and the worship service (10:45AM). In 1981, the Porters left Open Door so Steve could earn a ThM at Dallas Theological Seminary. They joined SIM International after graduation and soon headed overseas. For the past 32 years, they've run a dental clinic in Miango, Nigeria. Their work has included evangelism, discipleship, marriage and family training, widow benevolence, hospitality, church leadership development, and much more. They will be heading back next month along with Julie, their remarkable special needs child who is now 32 years old. Come be inspired and equipped to pray for these servants of the Lord.

Join us Sunday morning, October 27, to celebrate those who want to declare their faith. If you would like to be baptized or would like to understand more about it, talk with Pastor Gary.

Summer Movie Night

Our summer Family Movie Night is next Sunday evening, July 21. Make plans to come out and see Breakthrough, based on the inspirational true story of one mother's unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds.
When Joyce Smith's adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost. But as John lies lifeless, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John's recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction.

Breakthrough is an enthralling reminder that faith and love can create a mountain of hope, and sometimes even a miracle.

MEN'S CHILI COOKOFF -- February 24, 6PM

The competition is intense.  The chili is world class.  Plan to take part next Sunday, February 24, 6PM.  Entries will be judged, and the winner will take possession of the coveted Silver Spike “You Nailed it!” Award for the next 12 months. Ladies, no help is allowed in chili preparation.  You can bring crackers, cheese, desserts, and other chili accompaniments.

***And the results are in!  The possessor of the Silver Spike for 2019 is Don LaCroix who stole the show with his pulled pork barbecue chili.  With no hope of term limits in sight, the office of  second place winner remains with Daniel Jones, Jr.  And Greg Lesley may blame sleepless nights up with his beautiful newborn daughter for dropping to third place.***
