The annual Life Choices LifeWalk at the Memphis Zoo is coming up on Saturday, April 26, 9am to noon. Operation Christmas Child Celebration Event

 Operation Christmas Child River City invites you to an event they will be hosting here in our building at 262 N Perkins Rd. on Saturday, April 12 from 1 to 3PM.  Come out to celebrate what God is doing, connect with other shoebox packers in the area, and learn more about the countries our shoeboxes were sent to this year. There will be food and activities based on those countries. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to heartforocc@gmail.com.

 Ladies Crafting Fellowship

Ladies, grade 3 and above, are welcome to join us on Saturday, March 8, 1--4PM, for a time of fellowship and crafting as we prepare items for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  This month we will be working on amigurumi, braiding jump ropes, and making beaded bracelets.  Instruction and materials will be provided.  Bring fabric scissors and crochet hooks if you have them.

 Our first packing party for the 

2024 Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Season 

will take place on 

Saturday, October 12, 10AM to 2PM, 

at 1792 North Parkway.  

Come when you can and stay as long as you wish--

pack one box or ten.  

We will be focused on 2 to 4 year old children.

 Ladies Tuesday Evening Bible Study on the book of Isaiah will meet weekly at 6:45PM beginning September 24.  Come dig into the Word of God with us!

 

AWANA, our Bible club for young people from age 2 through grade 12, resumes on Sunday evening, September 8, from 5:00 to 6:30PM.  Come out for a good time learning from the Bible, memorizing Scripture, and playing games.

 

Did you know that only $200 covers the initial cost for one woman in a crisis pregnancy to come to Life Choices for an appointment? This appointment includes pregnancy testing, STI/STD testing and treatment, counseling, and an ultrasound from an experienced nurse. Would you support us as we walk for these women?  The LifeWalk is this Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Memphis Zoo. Join our church team or donate at bit.ly/odbclifewalk. 

 

Our Annual Men's Chili Cook-off is coming on February 25.  All entries should be in the kitchen by 5:30PM.  The meal will begin at 6:00PM.  Men, bring your best chili for a chance to win the Silver Spike Award.  Ladies, bring accompaniments and desserts.

 

We have a couple of recurring fellowship activities planned for this year.  In odd-numbered months, we will have a ladies crafting activity where ladies can bring a craft project of their own to work on or work on a project for OCC shoeboxes while fellowshipping with other ladies (third grade and up).  In even-numbered months, we will have a Friday Fellowship for any adults who would enjoy dinner together and an activity.  These will range from potluck and table games to dinner out to bowling (or other activity) nights.  Make plans to attend. Pack a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child!  We are collecting shoeboxes filled with fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items now through November 19.  These shoeboxes will go around to world to carry the message of God's love to needy children.  You can pick up a shoebox at the church or use any shoebox you have on hand.

Please avoid edible items, items from nature, all liquids, wearable camo, and any scary or war-related items.

AWANA, our Bible club for young people age 2 through twelfth grade, is back in session for another year.  After they Labor Day break on September 3, join us on September 10, at 5:30PM.

 

Pastor Kevin Grant will begin a new series on the Book of Ruth on Sunday morning, September 10.  Join us at 10:45AM.

Join us on Sunday evenings at 6 as we look deeper into the Apostle John's Letters to the Seven Churches in the book of Revelation.

 We welcome Pastor Kevin Grant and his family to Memphis.  

He will be joining the pastoral staff and transitioning into the senior pastorship in the coming months.  

We are thankful to have them as part of the ministry here.

 We have received word that our shoeboxes from this year have been shipped to South Africa, Ghana (in West Africa), Panama, and Ukraine.  Praise the Lord for the opportunity to reach out on three continents!
